Payment gateways and connections

Understand how a gateway connects an approved account to a website, POS, or virtual terminal.

A gateway carries payment instructions; it is not a substitute for an acquiring agreement. We map the channel, available software connections, and provider requirements before recommending a configuration.

01

Select the account first

The acquirer and merchant agreement determine eligible products, transaction types, fees, and reserve terms. A gateway cannot make an unapproved category acceptable.

02

Check actual compatibility

We confirm the supported gateway, plugin or API, checkout version, tokenization, refund path, and whether the POS receives a reliable order reference. NMI or another gateway is considered only when the chosen provider supports it.

03

Test security and reconciliation

Before launch, test authorizations, captures, voids, refunds, duplicate prevention, receipts, and reports. Scope card-data exposure with the provider and its PCI guidance.

QUESTIONS THAT MATTER

Good answers make
better decisions.

Do you already connect to NMI or Authorize.net?

We check the selected provider and merchant account before claiming support for any gateway.

Does a gateway hold my funds?

No. The approved processing and banking partners determine settlement under their agreements.
